Great album. I "discovered" John at a small venue one Saturday night, and was struck by the power and range of his voice - he uses it like another instrument. I wasn't expecting a singer-songwriter to actually, you know, sing. His original material is great (check out "Already Broken" on his other album on this site), but I like him best when he's interpreting familiar tunes. When he sang "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" live, I thought the top of my head was going to blow off. He turned an oldie but goodie into a cry of longing that reached down deep inside of me and pulled a million sad memories into view. I haven't had an experience like that in a long, long time. The album is almost as good as live.

Absolutely terrific! Especially "Goodbye Is Still Goodbye" - if you don't cry, there is something wrong!
