ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes

This CD was our first project and most of it was written while were were ministering in a horsebarn up in Bismarck, North Dakota. It’s a prophetic work, and lots of stuff goes on in the spirit (thus, track #7). Look closely on the cover. That’s an actual picture of the Eastern gate (taken in the early 1900’s) where Jesus will be coming back thru. Yes, those are gravestones right in front of the doors.

Track 1) There’s A Sound -- If you listen closely to your Bible, you’ll hear lots of awesome sounds. This song describes some of them with a little help from Mark's electric guitar.

Track 2) By Your Word – A ballad written by Mark, this song is about the hope of the resurrection and has some nice harmonies. Denise’s favorite part is the oboe at the end.

Track 3) Open Up The Gates – Mark was inspired to write the title song after meditating on Psalm 118. Tradition says this psalm was sung during the Passover feast. So Jesus probably sang this the night before he was crucified. The words were true for him then, and they are still true for us today!

Track 4) Habakkuk’s Song –Taken from the book of Habakkuk, it boils down to 3 parts: Habakkuk complains to God; God shows His glory; and after Habakkuk sees God’s power, he gets a revelation to rejoice. The last chorus was written in 1985, and gathered dust for 15 years till Mark got the same revelation and finished the song.

Track 5) Millennial Rain – A pop tune with rain, thunder and a very cool horn section. Learn about walking in the authority and power God has rained down upon us. You'll be moving to this one.

Track 6) Run With the Vision – A quick paced tune that was an anthem song for a conference we attended. Grab a baton and run the race. Our Father is waiting at the finish line!

Track 7) S.T.U.F.F. – Everyone has stuff in their lives – whether it’s from God or not is another story. This song title is an acronym for who the Holy Spirit is and what His function is to the body of Christ. A great bass line and hot guitar licks.

Track 8) Ain’t No Life – Written by Mark in 1979 after he got saved, this Chicago blues number is as close to a personal testimony as he’s written.

Track 9) Praise Looks Good On You – Mark’s music and Denise’s lyrics give this song an island sound that brings on a party atmosphere, even after you die!

Track 10) Are You A Christian? – Denise was the wordsmith for this rap song. Many people think they’ll go to heaven for all the wrong reasons. But there’s only one right reason and you'll have to listen to find out.

Track 11) New Thing – One of our most popular and powerful songs written. This song has a vibe that just does not stop. Jesus spoke to the disciples of receiving power from the Holy Ghost and how they needed it to be witnesses. The Day of Pentecost – if you don’t believe it, it won’t happen to you; but if you receive it, you’ll know that it’s true!
