Album Notes
I wrote "Fly" about seeing the potential in a dream and imagining what it would be like to really chase it. This song is really special to me because I'm so happy with the production, and the chorus really brings me to a magical place. It was so amazing to work with some of my friends for all the elements in the song (Tony Perez on Trumpet, Max Davis on drums, Taylor Hatch on bass, Mixing & Mastering by John McLucas), and I think it turned out so well.

At first the upbeat piano part came to me, and I really liked the idea of slowing the song down during the chorus. I love getting back to my roots of piano because I grew up with it, and now I've been playing more guitar live. Not coincidentally I was really inspired by the beautiful feel of the song "Fly" by June Marieezy (FKJ remix), and I didn't realize it until later that I literally used the word fly in my own song. I wanted this song to be about my music dreams, and the dreams of others really working hard with the talent and potential they have.

This is the third single leading up to my album "Another Side" (2019), which includes a lot of other collaborations and musical influences. I'm mostly inspired by jazzy artists, and other singer-songwriters like Corinne Bailey Rae, Lianne La Havas, Norah Jones, and so many more. Thanks so much to you listeners out there, and I hope you enjoy the new music.
