ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Contemporary composer Chiel Meijering has always been interested in creating new musical styles and links with other art forms like dance, film, literature, theatre so consequently addressing new audiences, creating links with other art forms like electronic music. Meijering and bassoonist Kathleen Mclean have collaborated on many innovative musical projects with a mission to feature the bassoon as a solo instrument. Check out some of that music. Twilight visions https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9sMBGv-LQt4 Perpetuate Transmigration https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3YnhPgt-rM Winds of change https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBY0vCKPi4c The Pied Piper (part 4) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zen4qObG-1U In 2018 a very wild piece “the green reed which bends in the wind”scored for 12 bassoons and strings was commissioned and premeried and received with great success by acollection of international bassoon soloistsat the International Double Reed Society in Granada, Spain. The Green Reed that bends in the wind (part 2) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Dh2eOlaBuQ Meijering has released several electro albums “Rave On” (EDM) ,“Come into my Dreamworld” to name a few and Shimmy Shimmy which was a collaboration with Kathleen McLean. Meijering crosses over musical genres effortlessly and in this album, featuring bassoon in combination with electronics is a fine example of his innovative musical approach. We hope that this album will breathe new sounds and colours into the electro pop music scene and also gives the bassoon the ability to show it’s versatility outside of it’s traditional role as just another dusty classical orchestral instrument. For his work, he invariably searches for possibilities for implementation and joint ventures to bring his contemporary music to the public.
