ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Chiel Meijering offers up another original EDM album in collaboration with North American bassoonist Kathleen McLean. Super loaded with hot driving beats, Meijering pairs the unique tonal qualities of the bassoon and interlaces these sounds within his original dance hits merging and shifting the vibe and three tracks mixes old medieval music with new layers of sounds and colors and also including a couple of pensive and elegiac ambient tracks at the end of album imagining as if winding down the night of a steamy wild ride at a dance club.
This is no ordinary EDM album as these tracks are each clearly created by one of Holland’s
most well known living composers.
Always provocative and rebellious as a composer, Meijering is driven to experiment in all genres of music and deliberately steps out of the boundaries in all of his music often scoring for unusual instruments or quirky orchestrations always giving both the players and listener a complete thrill ride. Meijering is the master chauffeur ready to take you there on this Night Ride release.
Contemporary composer Chiel Meijering has always been interested in creating new musical styles and links with other art forms like dance, film, literature, theatre so consequently addressing new audiences, creating links with other art forms like electronic music. Meijering and bassoonist Kathleen Mclean have collaborated on many innovative musical projects with a mission to feature the bassoon as a solo instrument. Check out some of that music. The Green Reed that bends in the wind (part 2) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Dh2eOlaBuQ Meijering has released several electro pop albums “The Joker” ,“Come into my Dreamworld” to name a few and Psycho Circus” which was a collaboration with New York guitarist, Keith Calmes. Meijering crosses over musical genres effortlessly and in this album, featuring bassoon in combination with electronics is a fine example of his innovative musical approach. We hope that this album will breathe new sounds and colours into the electro pop music scene and also gives the bassoon the ability to show it’s versatility outside of it’s traditional role as just another dusty classical orchestral instrument. For his work, he invariably searches for possibilities for implementation and joint ventures to bring his contemporary music to the public.
