ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Judy is an icon, loved as Dorothy in Wizard of Oz. But in the 1930s, Deanna, “Winnipeg’s Sweetheart”, was a much bigger star. A favorite of Roosevelt, Churchill, even Mussolini, her first kiss was front page news in the NY Times. At 28, she left the screen for a life of happy obscurity in France. These songs - sweet, poignant humorous - were written by the leading songwriters of the day, and are some of the greatest hits of 'Old Hollywood'.

This album is a soundtrack from the stage show, and features Canadian Melanie Gall on vocals, and Jazz musicians Bennett Paster and Jim Whitney on piano and bass.

“An unforgettable delight,” CBC; “Gall is Astonishing!” Metro Arts
