haunting countermelodies wrapped around a straight-ahead folk drive
...Though the music varies in style and feel, [it] has cohesion and a definite direction... haunting countermelodies wrapped around a straight-ahead folk drive, peppered with tasteful effects and background tracks...

great first album....
This was a really great surprise! I didn't know what to expect from the rest of the album -- I liked what I heard in the samples posted on CdBaby -- a lot of variety here and all really well done. Solid songwriting! I find myself singing her songs during the day! The production is a bit too much at times, though. Otherwise, great first album!

tremendous talent
her lyrics hit you right where you expect them to... there is no extra space. Her words always match right up with her melodies. Not many songwriters can do that. It takes a tremendous talent...

driven and vividly textured
(mj's) recording debut is a surprisingly driven, vividly textured collection of original material that commingles styles and transcends genre yet seemlessly celebrates the inspiration of its folk, rock, pop, counrty, blues, jazz and even classical roots. And it's easy to dance to.
