Album Notes
Animalopolis, Melany's 3rd release, is a fun, educational musical adventure with 12 original tunes that teach, inspire and tickle
the funny bone. Melany continues to produce smart music for kids that's friendly to parent's ears. Great for long car or plane rides or just dancing in the living room.
Parent's Choice Recommended Review:
"Songwriter and recording artist Melany Perkins, along with her husband/partner Tim "Mr Science" Perkins have traveled the world bringing knowledge and music to young audiences. Animalopolis is her fourth album, and like her previous efforts, the music is strategically designed with half the songs fast for movement, and half slow for settling down, ending with a lullaby.
The album begins with the "AM for Dancin'" section and the sweet, gentle animal naming title track, followed by the waltz time "Buggy Wuggy Blues." Continuing the upbeat pace is the bubbly two-step "Catfish In My Bathtub," the sweet feline swing of "Meow," the dancing dragon tune "Gus," and the hunting for animal sounds song "Alligator," based on the classic "Row Row Your Boat," complete with some wonderful kid giggles. "The "PM for Chillin'" section begins with the semi-rapped tale "Big Dog," and acoustic reggae of "Oliver the Octopus." One of the album's loveliest tunes is the mellow animal melody "Middle Meadow Green," where Perkins croons softly along with some very harmonious voices. The album winds down with another trio of critter tunes; which includes the slow shuffle of "Soupy Snail," the soothing "Birdie Concert," and the lazy lullaby of "Firefly." Perkins possesses a soft soothing voice, and can make her instrument shimmer with glistening finger-picked chords. All twelve songs are original, the production is clear, and her compatriots from the Kidstuff Guitar School prove to be excellent students. There is also the occasional bass, percussion and even didgeridoo from some well-chosen adults."
