ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
In 2011 Meredith McHenry appeared on an ill-fated, singing competition show on ABC titled "Karaoke Battle USA". While the show was short-lived, it did air on primetime to over 3 million people and it jump-started Meredith's return to music. She formed a band and began playing cover songs in bars and wineries around the SF Bay Area. Michael Scott played bass in that band and for a number of years they and the other talented members of Meredith & The Mercenaries Eryn Allen (keys), Johnny Steele (guitar), Matthew Randle (backing vocals) and a rotating cast of drummers rocked the walls of local venues with other artist's songs. Eventually Meredith & Michael split off from the band and formed an acoustic duo that has kept them both busy for the years since. In 2015 Meredith was invited to perform at a TEDx event in Napa where she'd been asked to compose songs specifically for the production. This would mark the first time Meredith performed original music for an audience. Since then she has been writing furiously both solo, and with creative partners, building an ever-growing audience of listeners. "Happy Birth" is the first release to come from these years of writing. Michael has taken her lyrics and melodies and used his skill on every instrument and at the sound board to create shining, individual stories, from the bones of Meredith's original compositions. A "Happy Birth" after all this time, and this is just the beginning.
