Album Notes
Combine Cats and Celts and you have Irish Drinking Songs for Cat Lovers, a CD for the wonderfully demented kitty cat fantastic. Listen to music you've heard on St. Patrick's Day or by The Dubliners, The Clancy Brothers, The Wolfe Tones, and The Irish Rovers. Then laugh as all your favorite Irish Drinking Songs are rewritten with lyrics about cats. Your love of Celtic music will never be the same!

"Live at the Cactus Cafe: Celtic Music and Cat Songs" is a live CD recorded for the CD release of The Dubliners' Tabby Cats second CD of cat parodies, "Whiskers in the Jar". It features Marc Gunn performing some of his favorite cat songs with Cedric the Fiddler and Michelle Hedden.

But that's not all. You will also hear Marc embrace his Celtic roots with a nice mix of Celtic and folk songs. Plus, Cedric of the Bedlam Bards takes the lead on a couple songs turning it into an all out live musical experience unlike anything you've heard before.

Mixing Celtic drinking songs with lyrics about cats seems like a no-brainer–wait a second, no it doesn't. In fact, it sounds a little nuts. But the way in which this group has done it makes it not only loads of fun for feline fanatics, but also a hootin' and hollerin' time for fans of traditional Celt folk rock. Sure, there are elements that are highly comedic, but the popularity of this series makes one thing clear: these guys aren't some goofy novelty act. Their musical chops are evident in the arrangement of each track, and the lyrics are sharp-witted and cutely weird, sure to keep you paying close attention to each stanza. This is a live recording of some of their best numbers, and hearing them pull off the fast-paced intricacies of some of the songs (especially the ones with meowing) is great fun. If you're in the mood for something light-hearted but also sing-along catchy, you've gotta check this out. You may never think about cats in the same way again.

Live at the Catus Cafe
I just love this album. I think Marc's talent is awesome and I love it when Marc has Cedric and Michelle with him. Also, I am a cat person and absolutely love Marc's parodies. Awesome!! Awesome!! Marc is an awesome entertainer and I just love the sound of the autoharp. I use the word awesome a lot but that is only way I can describe Marc's talent!!!!!!

Good CD
The best cd record live I have ever heard. It didn’t even sound like it was recorded live. Although I’m little over dosed on cat songs for a will. I still love this cd. A fun cd all around

A little later
Later as promised I finally made it behind my computer to write a review, since I just kept listening to the album more than writing.
For some reason the song that stroke me most, was not about cats and wasn't even sang by Marc Gunn. No: I loved "The Sparrow". Somehow the message in it keeps hitting me.
When I was little, I made a little bird nesting house and a sparrow family inhabited it. Also there were cats around. Now I always kept the cats away from the sparrows but for some reason I wonder if even they could keep them down.
Ok, I'm mainly a cat person, but I do love other creatures as well.
The only thing I missed a bit: Michelle. I could here her bodhran, but I wondered how she managed to keep so quiet around the two men she was performing with. The feminist in me just keeps asking.
The pick of songs as also great and ... Listen yourself if you want to know more!
