ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
You can hear a smile in her voice: that's what critics and fans say about singer Mia Nicholson. There's an innate joy underpinning her sound; a pleasure in living that buoys the happy songs and leavens darker tunes with a wry perspective. "Something to Live For," the singer's debut CD, is a compelling blend of both. The savvy selection of uncommon jazz standards boasts a fresh sensibility thanks to Nicholson's uncontrived, sensual sound and spare arrangements by Steve Christofferson, who produced the CD with Nicholson and appears throughout on piano and melodica.

"Something to Live For" also features eight more elite musicians, including guitarist Jerry Hahn, formerly of the Jerry Hahn Brotherhood, latin percussionist Bobby Torres, drummer Rheinhardt Melz, bassist Dave Captein, violinist Eddie Parente, bassist Ed Bennett and drummer Ron Steen.

This voice will make your ears and heart happy.
If this voice and style do not make your ears and heart happy you ought to ask the person in your mirror what went wrong.
