Album Notes
"Florida's just a lonely man's state of mind" says a line from St. Johns River. Michael Baldwin's roots are in Florida, but he has traveled extensively and performed in a variety of venues. This previously unreleased collection of songs reveals Michael's country side. Many of them were actually recorded in Nashville although created during his travels around the country from Florida to upstate New York to California and back. Tracks 6 through 10 comprise a suite entitled Life Is Like a Small Town Rodeo, a country simile that applies to everyone. Michael's compositions are at the same time classic and unique and his vocals always reflect the emotion of the stories.

Up and Down the River
Fun but insightful songs about women, music, river, fishing, country and horses usually in that order, in other
words - life.

Cliff Anderson

Michael Baldwin a musical force
Jack Kerouac compared Michael Baldwin's style with Mose Allison & Leadbelly. Truly, Michael Baldwin is a musical force, both writing & performing his music. Go way down on the St. Johns river and listen to this magical musician weave his spell. On that Southern river you can also hear the evocative fiddle of Richard Leps spicing up the melodies.
Yours truly, Cliff Anderson, hasn't heard Baldwin hit a flat note in a long time.
Baldwin's music has power, grace & style, which is why the aforementioned Kerouac said, "In this world of denigration of masculine values Mike Baldwin sleeps soft."
