Album Notes
This 46-minute, 13-song collection is full of the honed wordplay his fans expect. It is by all accounts his best songwriting to date. “I’ve never worked harder, longer or more intimately on my music,” Campbell said, “and I’ve never been more satisfied.”

Stories of giddy game shows (with a contribution by Richard Dawson), murderous jealousy, a drowning and—well, only Campbell would make frozen pizza a metaphor for a broken family.

The breadth of styles is impressive, including Campbell’s signature ballads, a romping zydeco, a lilting waltz and a bossa nova. Yet it all weaves into a unified perspective, the theater of humanity through Campbell’s perceptive eyes.

Deluxe CD presentation
Word fans will be happy to find the poster-sized lyric sheet folded into the deluxe 3-panel CD pack. “I’m old-school,” Campbell said. “For me, putting on headphones to enjoy a whole album, reading along the whole time, is sublime.”
