If you’re wondering where the piano is from the excerpt, it will be along at about 2 minutes and when it does the very considerable emotional climax of the music begins. This piece was composed in the ‘time it takes to play it’ on what usually would be my Sunday morning podcast called ‘Sunday Morning Alone’ on October 26th. I played it that morning but I no longer have a podcast site and as no one is listening live I’ve lost interest. But Sunday mornings are usually good times for my improvisational compositional abilities at the piano and thankfully this one got recorded that morning.
It begins in soft strings on Eb that sort of reminded me of the classical composer Mendelssohn’s overture called ‘Calm Sea & Prosperous Voyage’ and from there the little theme going down G-F-C off the Eb chord got me started. It remains in Eb but in the middle it builds to a big cadence that interpolates some related chords to the key. The song itself is only 5 minutes or so long but with the string intro it is about 7:30 total.
With my music situation having gone bad to worse and having lost all contacts here; I’ve even tried hard-copy letters but I think people throw them away BUT after the recent October recording sessions of the 25th & 26th I felt that there was a ‘Ray of Light’ breaking through as I now have enough tracks including the recording session of August 21st to issue a full album in 2015 which I will call ‘Island in the Mist’ – So I changed that name to Ray of Hope.
The ALBUM: ISLANDS IN THE MIST will go forward in 2015 but not now as my funds are shot. YOU CAN HEAR MORE of the tracks and excerpts from this album on my personal website where there will be excerpts of these CDbaby tracks and more plus at least 1 FULL TRACK free to listen to of an mp3 from the CD coming.
The Tracks from this CD HERE AT CDbaby are: ‘Wave-hopping’ – ‘Ray of Hope’ – and an excerpt from ‘Islands in the Mist’>>
