Anthem for an America Lost (Instrumental)

by Michael Guy

Deep-voiced folk-driven theme on solo piano, an emotional B major brings feelings I'v had of the America in which I was brought up with my greatest generation parents seeming to have vanished with this generation of rabid politicians; backed by strings in the last part with a triple coda ending.

Album Notes

more> Though an anthem is usually a vocal work this intsrumental/piano theme is so American folksong inspired and emotionally deep that it serves to replace my voice which I seldom use these days. It might be more of a piano ballad but I keep calling it an "Anthem" - The final ending is rich in a warm bed of strings in B major and has a sort of triple cadence before finally resolving. This was done in my last session of August 2017 (excluding my Symphony Two work) and is to be on an upcoming CD called "Something Beautiful in the World"... (the LAST CD I will be issuing here)
