Album Notes
If you like Enya, Yanni or George Winston, then you'll absolutely fall in love with the music of Jeffrey Michael.

Composer, pianist and recording artist Jeffrey Michael has performed for millions of people and sold over 250,000 CD’s worldwide with his self-promotion strategy and record label Fireheart Music.

Jeffrey Michael grew up in Sterling Heights and Novi, Michigan. As a 2 year old he used to bang on his Great Grandmother’s piano. In 1983 she passed away and her piano was passed along to Jeffrey’s mother. She actually told him not to touch the piano for fear that he would damage it at such a young age. Naturally, he disobeyed her and began playing the piano by ear when he was 6 years old, going on to compose his own music by 11 years old. Jeffrey does not read music but rather is a self-taught musician who utilizes his excellent ear for his music and composes using a special shorthand that he developed as a child prodigy. Some of his musical influences include George Winston, David Lanz, Suzanne Ciani, John Tesh, Alan Silvestri, James Newton Howard, Hans Zimmer, James Horner, John Williams, Thomas Newman, Dave Matthews, Pink Floyd, James Blunt, David Gray and Coldplay.

At age 15 Jeffrey broke his right hand and could barely use it to play piano for many months which caused him to develop his left hand much more fully than many pianists. Now he is known for his dexterous two-hand counterpoint melodies. That same year Jeffrey borrowed $1,000 from his father, went to a recording studio and made a tape of his compositions that he began selling in his high school. In two weeks he paid his dad back. The next year he made another tape. By the time he graduated, he had sold 5,000 albums of instrumental music primarily to high schoolers!

1n 1996 after briefly taking business classes at Eastern Michigan University and Schoolcraft College, Jeffrey created Fireheart Music. Since then he has developed his company into an independent record label and music production company where he composes, produces and arranges piano CD’s. Under the Fireheart label he has released and self-promoted 7 piano CD’s including Inspirations (1996), Sailing to the Stars (1999), Winter Spirits (1999), Reflections (2000), Kaleidoscope (2002), After the Storm (2004) and Awakening (2006).

For the past 8 years Jeffrey has been touring the United States performing small concerts and more recently has become one the top art festival musicians in the country. He has also performed for many illustrious companies including Fox, Robert Mondavi Wineries, Versace and The American Cancer Society.

Jeffrey also composes music for film, television and video games. He has his own recording studio and has composed music for many projects. Some of his credits include music on the Sci-Fi Channel, ABC, Bravo and Oxygen as well as various reality TV shows.

Jeffrey is also co-owner of Half Genius Productions, an independent film production company in the Los Angeles area. He plays the guitar, enjoys screenwriting, painting, traveling, fishing, golf, hockey and has played soccer throughout Europe. He now resides in Hermosa Beach, California."

Richard Fuller - Metaphysical Reviews

Kaleidoscope is an aural delight!
Smooth. Healing. Serene. Beautiful. These were the words that came to mind the first time I listened to Kaleidoscope. Composer, pianist and producer Jeffrey Michael has assembled sixteen of his original compositions into a 52 minute album that soothes and transports the listener to a better place.

This reviewer found music and a soft delicate piano style that offered me peace, as it will you! Each of the compositions can transport you to faraway places, all inside of us, and all passionate and heartfelt. Some remind you of Autumn's falling leaves, or white sandy beaches, emerald waters and, yes crimson skies. Track 14 Tribute, was written in honor of the fallen victims of 9/11, and is as moving a piece as I've ever heard.

Kaleidoscope is a perfect album to kick back with. jeffrey Michael has given us delightful, ambient music to share with your loved one, or your own self. Either way. here is soft, sweet and inspiring music that will capture your heart.

Jeffrey Michael's music is an aural delight.

upbeat and calming at the same time
This is the fifth CD of Jeffrey's music I have bought. I don't know anything about New Age Music, I just know I like it as well as the others. It is upbeat and relaxing at the same time. The original sound is what I like the most.

A pianist of superior talent and extraordinary ingenuity!
Jeffrey Michael is a pianist of superior talent and extraordinary ingenuity. Prior to listening to his exquisite display of musicality on Kaleidoscope, I had begun to grow weary of contemporary piano music. With the dozens of solo piano recordings crossing this desk each month, it's hard not to be partial against them. Most of these recordings are beautifully packaged and filled with competent playing; it's just that there is such a glut of them, and less than a handful generally are worth listening to, or ever make an impact anywhere outside the immediate area where the pianist lives and performs. I feel blessed that once in a while a collection of truly beautiful all-original compositions catches my ear. Such is the case with Kaleidoscope, sixteen compositions that combine a heartfelt lyricism with a clear understanding of the link between music and spirituality, in this solo grand piano performance, with subtle string pad overdubs on one track.
What impresses me most in listening to the sixteen pieces presented on Kaleidoscope, is Michael's subtle technical genius. His expression and economy of notes is incomparable to any other player in this genre I've ever heard. Trust me, listen to this album, and listen to another pianist's recent music, ...i.e Liz Story, David Lanz, or George Winston. You'll immediately go back to Jeffrey Michael's music. The album is provocative, spiritual and overall, very high-caliber. A classical influence is strong at times, but it is blended well with free flowing improvization. There is a passion you can hear in every note that Jeffrey plays. The music combines New Age atmospheres and classical nuances with subtle folk influences in several compositions. In addition to providing a very pleasurable listening experience, the album can be useful when you have some time to yourself, to bring your thoughts and emotions into balance.
The album will be a delight for anyone who enjoys solo piano music. I found that Jeffrey's music stirred mental imagary, more so than comparable music from George Winston and similar composers. Clear reminiscences, transparent soundscapes, daydream images, all seem carefree, ...delicate, impressionistic inventions, which subtly suggest wistful, sentimental stories. A great example is "Starry Night", an exquisite progression of moving patterns inspired by the painting by Vincent Van Gogh. Another highlight, "Solitude" is a full bodied composition, vibrant, reverant, and innocently hesitant in expression. "Evolution" is one of the most dramatic pieces, moving inquisitively in clear, liquid tones resolving, then setting out again.
Each composition is rendered with a unique stylistic and emotional musical signature, derived from simple open modes and casual rhythmic patterns. I can feel Jeffrey's energy and passion as he performs each song. His gift for melody and tasteful arrangements converge to produce memorable, inspiring music that will easily be enjoyed by listeners of all ages. Each composition holds up on its own, yet they also relate to each other to evoke an emotional experience, to tell a story without words. The technical quality of the recording is meticulous. This album held my attention through repeated listenings. In particular, the title cut stands out as an instant classic. The tune is hauntingly beautiful, dreamy, and comforting, ...and I find that it still moves me after hearing it many times. I get goose bumps each time I listen to that song. Highly recommended.

A Colorful Collection!
“Kaleidoscope” is a very enjoyable collection of piano solos with washes of synth strings. An aspiring film composer (with several soundtracks under his belt already), Jeffrey Michael describes his compositions as “cinematic piano”. Only 25, this is a young man with a ton of potential! He is a self-taught musician, and is an unusual one in that his lack of formal training doesn’t show at all. The entire album is very enjoyable and soothing, and the music is laid-back without being ear-candy. I especially like “Indigo Falls”, which is a little moodier than the other tracks. I love the flowing quality and emotional content of this piece! I also really like the bluesy feel of the title track - an easy-going piece with a catchy rhythm. “Crimson Sky” has a wonderful melancholy flow - the kind of piece I really enjoy playing because you can get so caught up in the emotions. “Solitude” is deep and introspective. “Tribute” was composed for the fallen victims of 9/11, and is sad without being maudlin - a moving memorial. Jeffrey Michael is definitely an artist on the rise, and I think you’ll really enjoy this album.
