Biography:
Michael King is one of Detroit's hardest working Musicians with three solo CD's to his credit and over 30 CD's he's produced.
KING'S SOLO CD'S
MOTION (2003) King's latest CD is a departure from the singer-songwriter style fans may be expecting. Motion has songs filled with King's affected guitar sounds, reminiscent of Pink Floyd combined with progressive live drumming and loops as well as layers of piano parts, all this with King's trademark song writing.
A THOUSAND FACES (2000) Every Face tells a story...In "A Thousand Faces", King reverses the current song-writing trend of inward reflection and shines light on his audience. His songs reflect the lives of private people; a nostalgic woman dances by the moon, a gambler rolls the dice. King deliver his audience into the lives of real people who have powerful experiences to share.
NEVADA (1998) Powerful rhythms, timeless melodies, lyrics reaching beyond the surface, Michael King's debut album, "Nevada" has songs that take you to worlds and places beyond your own. "Nevada" brings new insights to universal thoughts and situations. "Nevada" combines solid musicianship based in acoustic and electric guitar with edgy, honest lyrics and songs that ask important questions. King is not afraid to address the dark side, even as he sends the poignant message hope is always within reach.

LIVE BAND
While Michael King's CD's are creative and multi-dimensional, nothing matches the excitement of The Michael King Band live. Raw, emotional, energetic, and spontaneous are the trademarks of each show. The power and magic of their performances comes from a combination of two unique aspects; (one) arguably the best players in Detroit, (two) who are challenged by layered and textured music that demands each player bring their best chops to the table. Every player is on the line during a Michael King Band performance and each player is in the spot light every night. During a performance the songs themselves become templates for extended jams and aggressive interplay.
His work has been featured at the prestigious Kerrville Folk Festival as well as at the The Ark, Ponitac Arts, Beats and Eats, Ann Arbor Art Fair, The Magic Bag and The Tuscan Cafe.
