ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
A creature of troubled times, yet resplendent in virtuosity and musical truth, Michael Moody possesses one of the most impressive and lush voices of his generation. Inspired by the dexterity and vocal prowess of jazz singers such as Sarah Vaughan, Carmen McRae, Billy Eckstine, Chet Baker and Roberta Gambarini; Moody carefully blends classic technique with a modern approach. Moody's style both embodies and transcends his era. Upon graduating from Long Island University in 2013, with his double B.F.A in Vocal and Piano jazz studies (under the training of Samuel Newsome and Carlo De'Rosa) Moody further sought studies with world renowned free jazz vocalist Jay Clayton, and legendary bebop pianist Barry Harris. Michael has had the pleasure of singing with some of jazz greatest musicians, including Sheila Jordan, who impassionately told Moody "you got soul baby!" The lavished depth of his voice along, with his musicality, has won respect from audiences of all genres. Moody's lustrous baritone, controlled vibrato, and wide expressive abilities, as displayed in his debut single "You've changed", solidifies him as a bonafide jazz singer.
