ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Michael Plater is a solo singer/songwriter based in Melbourne, Australia.

Taking in various indie, country, lounge, folk, gothic, and “noir” influences, his solo music has been compared to such artists as Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Tindersticks, Johnny Cash, The Triffids, Joy Division and Lee Hazlewood.

In 2004 Michael released the bare-boned (voice and guitar) 4 track e.p “These Mad Windows.” This was followed in 2005 by the released of his debut cd “Rented Rooms.” Featuring such instrumentation as cello, accordion, brush drums, organ, and acoustic and electric guitars, the album was a more fleshed-out affair, recorded sporadically between June 2004 and August 2005, primarily at Melbourne’s Bakehouse Studios.

Michael regularly plays around Australia, and has attracted an ever-increasing international audience, particularly in Europe. He is currently working on a new album.
