Album Notes
The sixties and early seventies were great times to be in a rock n’ roll band. People still purchased albums, vinyl to boot, and listened to every song.

Today, the internet helps artists who would not have gotten a chance to be heard in the sixties and early seventies. Back then, the best artists stood out and others were “also-rans”.

That’s the good that the internet and mp3 players do for artists today. However, one has to wonder if what’s good for today’s artists is good for yesterday’s listeners. Some of our favorite songs would probably not have been played in today’s music environment. Back then, artists recorded one or two hits around which they built an album. The hits were good, but weren’t always the best songs on the album. Even if they were the best songs on the album, there were other songs that were meaningful or just great songs.

For example, Billy Joel wrote a song and recorded it on his album Glass Houses. The song is entitled “All For Leyna” and Michael Bonanno named the third of his three beautiful daughters Leyna.

If the title LIFE; THE MUSICAL sounds familiar, it’s probably because you visited CD Baby and saw an album with that title. It was recorded, engineered and published by Michael Bonanno. In fact, Michael has recorded six albums, all of which he submitted to CD Baby.

As he moved through the recording of the six albums, he discovered more tools which helped him improve with each album. He believes he’s reached a stage in his life and in his career in which his knowledge of recording CDs as a “lone actor”, so to speak, is significantly stronger than it was when he first recorded the CDs that have been for sale at CD Baby since 2006.

In fact, he’s decided to rerecord and/or remix each and every CD and CD Baby has been outstanding in the help they’ve given him. They are allowing him to republish the six discs and, if you heard any of the originals, you’ll note the significant improvement in the production and the sound.

The music? Michael is a Baby Boomer. His music represents that period. He’s hoping that there are other Boomers out there who just want to hear new music that could have been well received back in the day. Imagine it; a new artist from the sixties and seventies publishing new music that we “hippies” would have been happy to hear back then and will be happy to hear today as well.

Rock n’ roll is here to stay, no matter how it changes.
