ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Michael Wouters studied jazz piano at the Conservatory in Utrecht, the Netherlands. After graduation he performed in several bands as pianist and keyboard player. He started composing, writing and producing music at Soul Planet studios in Amsterdam where he worked for various (inter-)national artists before moving to Los Angeles where he worked with artists such as Billy Preston, Patti Labelle, Jennifer Holiday, Lisa Simone, Leah McCrae.

Michael's voice is raw, soft or intense & combined with skillful jazz chords and riffs on the piano he has created his own unique sound.

The song "Dear Rosa" was written as a tribute to Rosa Parks and Michael received a thank-you letter from Miss Parks before she passed away. The song has brought the group Labelle (Patti Labelle, Nona Hendryx and Sarah Dash) together for a reunion album for which the lyrics were slightly re-written by Nona Hendryx. On this album Michael plays and sings the original version of his song.

"Talk To Me Like The Rain" was inspired by a Tennessee Williams play, "It is such a profound play and that specific line deserved its own song" Michael decided.

"Define Love" is a song about falling in love, being heartbroken and breaking some hearts along the way. "If you've been through all of the above it is time to write a new Definition of Love"

"I'll Take It From Here" is a Sunday morning reverie, a thank-you to the sun for casting shadows on your lovers' body, initiating a romantic 'dance' until the sun sets again...
