Album Notes
Michelle Tavares' inner self is such a beautiful light her presence can brighten any room. A gifted songwriter and vocalist the stunning Michelle will soon bring her modern-day sound to Pop / R&B music.

Born a product of inner city Toronto to Portuguese parents, Michelle's early childhood would have her listen to traditional styles of Latin music. She began singing and mimicking her idols Gloria Estefan, Teena Marie and later Jennifer Lopez. By the age of thirteen Michelle wanted to be a "Latin Sensation" like her idols and was performing at Portuguese showcases and on multi-cultural radio. At eighteen Michelle released her first solo album and became a corner stone of Portuguese music in Toronto and over the next two years with growing popularity to see her perform Michelle excepted a performing contract with "The Booking House" where she performed as a Jennifer Lopez impersonator on an international stage in over 200 appearances in Brazil, Venezuela, Cuba, the Middle East (Dubai: United Arab Emirates) throughout the United States of America including Alaska and Canada.

When not touring Michelle studied voice and theory at the Royal Conservatory of Music and continued to develop her song writing using a wide range of musical genres with her mix of Latin influenced Pop/R&B music. Now teamed with experienced songwriters and musicians, Michelle is concentrating on songs that become her vibrant colorful background. Delightful Mix of Pop, Latin and R&B
“We’re gonna go back,” Michelle Tavares declares on the reprise of “Want to Be” on Just Michelle, and she largely succeeds with an album that’s charm is due to an emphasis on good, old-fashioned fun. The Toronto-native’s sophomore effort is a mix of pop, Latin, and R&B that will make you want to move.

Just Michelle is a record with many cuts that seem destined for the dance floor. Producers Joel Joseph and Kenny Moran (NuVintage Music Group) keep the beats pulsing, incorporating acoustic guitar, hand claps, throbbing bass lines, and horns that give their songs a distinctive sound. One of the album’s best tracks is the body-grooving “Chileno”, which speaks of burgeoning desire and is perfectly accented by Latin rhythms. A cover of Teena Marie’s “I Need Your Lovin’” provides some old-school fun and funk.

Tavares remains appropriately light and playful on jams such as “Keep Your Eyes On Me” and “Want to Be.” Graceful ballads like “Forgive and Forget” and “Find Yourself” demonstrate romantic angst and growing self-confidence respectively while tender midtempo “Fallin’” emerges as one of the album’s highlights. Fellow artists Wade-O Brown, Divine Brown, and Kayte Burgess contribute some lovely background vocals, and Just Michelle exudes a positive, feel-good vibe. This isn’t the meatiest record, but it’s one that will get the party started and keep it going.
