Album Notes
Made in Bombay, born and raised in the UK, and now San Francisco-based, Micropixie defies easy classification on her stunning debut album. Inspired, imaginative, and disarmingly personal, "Alice in Stevie Wonderland" gives listeners an inside perspective on MPX's curious and epic journey as an alien trying on the human experience. Weaving sensuous instrumentation - both electronic and organic - with intricate vocal textures (courtesy of MPX's Innit Choir), the album's unlikely narrative covers a wide range of genres, tempos and emotions as MPX confronts terrestrial themes of identity, conformity, loneliness, and confusion; fortunately however, the Mothership beams down a timely reminder of her mission via the universal truths of intelligence, love, and harmony.

The elegantly-packaged CD + 28pp full-colour booklet includes complete lyrics, and also features original photography by the Alien with Extra]ORDINARY[ Abilities herself.

Penned and co-produced with sonic partner-in-time, Neo Eon One (Jeff Crerie), ASWL might very well qualify as the first entry within a new genre of music: "Planetary"...

dreamy aural blend of beats, chirps, and lyrics allow you to dream, chill....
Miss alien, through her narrative style, will likely evoke personal memories of discord, while hinting at potential for jubilance. This, in a dreamy aural blend of beats, chirps, and lyrics allows you to dream, chill, or bop. I especially fancy her vocals in /nocturnal concrete mountaineering/ and /projection honey/. The very memorable /mothership/ is uplifting, sweet, and melodic. These favorites cause me to anticipate future sound poetry from micropixie.
Unwind your headphones to get the grand effect from micropixie's sound. Delve beyond your own space, and into it.

Björk Meets Bowie
Behold the golden dawn of Planetary Music! The Micropixie has landed. Her debut "Alice In Stevie Wonderland" is Sade smooth and Pink Floyd trippy. What's Going On rite hear is a classic title track plus more infectious singles than a 21st-century diva can shake a spaceship at. Wonder-full for headphones, dancefloor, and trance-formative ambience. The auditory stylings of Neo Eon One make for a sumptuous secret sauce in this sonic chickpea feast. ASWL by MPX: an iPod-friendly triumph.

Profound and hilarious - and the music's good too
I saw Micropixie perform live with just a tabla player for accompaniment; the CD retains her wit and lovely vocals but adds lush and engaging music and vocal effects. The CD booklet includes stunning photographs as well as all the lyrics; it would be worth the cover price by itself! But the CD is fab. I can't stop listening to it.

It's good to hear someone trying a different approach to thier music, this certainly is different, very relaxing, pleasing on the ears, without going over the top, this is a superb CD, I really enjoy listening to it, it's worth every penny!!! This is better than the mainstream music that's normally played on our radio stations.

Clever, Ironic, and Interesting--Micropixie is on the Right Track
I heard a sample of Alice in Stevie Wonderland on MPX's website (Mothership) but decided to buy the CD after tuning in to a pirate radio broadcast interview w/the wee one herself (complete with sample cuts).

The music is moody, introspective, and interesting, with a jazzy, Laurie Andersonesque feel to it. (And I did enjoy the Stevie Wonder-influenced harmonica punctuations in one of the cuts--forget which at the moment). The writing is clever, ironic, and humorous, with an underlying sense of vulnerability and sweetness--yet not overly-sentimental. Micropixie undoubtedly has talent, and I'm looking forward to hearing more from her (and seeing her perform).

Just what I was looking for ! ! LOVED IT!! :O)
I was in the mood for a certain type of music..couldn't quite place my finger on it..was surfin CD BABY and then I found HER! Micropixie! Just what my ears and soul were craving! Please don't go anywhere Micropixie!! Very much look forward to your next set of gifts to mankind disguised in a CD. :O)

This is the zen of music.
This is the zen of music, where the grooves are sparse and deep. I think Neo is a genius producer that allows her words to resonate. The music makes its own statement in its own time. In fact, time stops, with a vintage typewriter (,etc.) replacing the usual sounds. I love this music, and there is no more beautiful music to listen to with my daughter, or alone on the subway. It evokes the best moments of Eno and Bjork but with beautiful English. It blurs between poetry, music, and art. This intelligence is inviting, not opinionated. Its high society is inclusive. We can all party with this.

I love the album. The lyrics made me laugh only because I know where MPx is coming from. It was lovely to hear your gorgeous voice again MPX. Keep it up!

Ambient, lyrical, humourous
Since there are no coincidences, I was bound to finally find out who was this young "coconut" being sermoned into eating meat and taking Prozac while I was listening to Ethno Techno web radio every now and then. Her name is Micropixie, the sonic gypsy and her first album, Alice in Stevie Wonderland, is a voyage into ambient soundscapes, conscious lyricism and humourous experiments in innovative sounds.

This is an album that soothes the listener. Sounds are soft and calming, beats are laid back yet bouncy and Micropixie's voice is as sweet as rain on a very dry summer day. But that's not all, this little lady has more than one trick in her bag! While the album is relaxing and chilled out, the message she intends to deliver gets across; humans needs to wake up and open their hearts and consciousness before it is too late, if it's not already... The message is as clear as it gets by track 10, titled like the album, Alice in Stevie Wonderland, where Micropixie sings once again very clearly: "This planet's going completely... topsy turvy". All this is set around a story about reincarnation and extra-terrestrial travels, which makes this cd not only a very original concept album but also a conscious and very funny one. Anyone with open ears will appreciate the work done on the vocal tracks where the listener will constantly be surprised by bits s/he didn't hear before.

So while this album might appeal to lovers of downbeat electronica, those with a heightened sensibility about the state of the world at the moment will also find something to love in it. If you are both, you'll fall in love with this little alien and her alter ego, single beige female, a must have! We hope she is still vegetarian and off the pills, so we may get another album like this one!

Uniquely extraordinary artist!
I was in no way looking to buy a new album, but when I stumbled across this one, I knew I had to have it! After a week or so of anticipation, the album finally arrived and I am simply astounded. Keep doing what you do best and good luck with the future.
