Excellent album
Top notch music on every track and this album swings from beginning to end. Buy...you won't be disappointed!
Six stars......:-)

Any more stars there please?
I have heard good and great big band recordings in my time but I reckon that this Mike Barone epic ranks among the best I have experienced. Breathing new life into the old Birdland Epic and making it somehow brand new, and a great improvement on other versions, takes some doing. Superb fidelity and a brilliant rhythm section ensures you pleasure. OUTSTANDING.

The good stuff
Excellent, swingin' big band jazz. No raw, jagged edges here, just warm sonorities from the horns. Admirable playing from the bassist and drummer. Easy to listen to, without being easy listening muzak. Check out veteran, but under-rated trumpet soloist Bob Summers. Mike Barone has fun with some of his song titles. His Mr. Humble, originally written for Buddy Rich, actually sounds like an up-tempo Count Basie "Cute" style romp. Dig the standards such as I'm Confessin' and Indian Summer. Well recorded and well played by the band, all the arrangements are by Barone. Well done!
