ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The duo of Michael Slaughter and Mike Cook last performed together some years ago at the ski lodge in Bear Valley, CA. We were younger then. The two of us reconnected musically in November 2010. Shortly thereafter began the planning and preparation leading to this CD.

The title is from the first line of the 12th song on the album, "Here's That Rainy Day." Except “The Ice Hotel” and “Don’t Let Me Be Lonely Tonight,” all the songs are classics from the so-called Great American Songbook.

Original cover art by Michael Trittin depicts the artists against a background depicting the Icehotel in Jukkasjärvi, Sweden. The photograph on the inside two pages of the CD insert is by Mike Cook.

This is dedicated to the memory of my mother, Gene Gentry Cook, a fine jazz/pop singer who set me on a musical path, and my teachers, Lois Reid and Farrell Scott, and with special thanks to Amy Thorn, who coached my voice into shape for this project.

Mike Cook, 2011
