Album Notes
I have always strived to be an explorer of musical genres. The lyric, or more accurately the message within the lyric, is what is important in my music. The flavors that carry that message have many derivations; jazz, rock, soul, funk, folk, bluegrass, etc. But those flavors are just a way for the lyric to attract attention to itself. If my music has it's own sound, I owe this to a lifetime of simmering in the sounds of others. Somehow in the mix the work begins to claim it's own identity. Convergence is an album that has done just that. The musicianship and arrangements provide a myriad of colors here, as if the theme is to defy thematic classification. Whether it's rock, folk, or jazz, the lyric is always vying for the soul of the listener.

Favorite Mike album thus far
I have been a fan of Mike's music for several years, and each album not only displays a step in his growth as a songwriter, but also shows off his innate and remarkable ability to put poetry and stories into music. Between his lyrics and the musical frame of each song, Convergence has taken the #1 spot on my favorites list. Each song takes on its own feeling and the album cant fall into a particular genre category because Mike walks us through a variety of sounds. A few top songs for me are Phoenix Radio, One Last Kiss and Rose By Carriage, with their deep meanings that hit your soul. I highly recommend Convergence to all.
