ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Recipe for the Blues is the second album written and produced by Mike Hammar. Mike has always kept an open ear to all of the various genres within the blues. He credits a great variety of artists for influencing the music that he composes. The twelve new songs on this album reflect experiences from Mike's life in the form of stories or messages for his fans. He comes from a large extended family and grew up in the heart of the San Joaquin Valley in California. Humble beginnings fuel his inspirational songs, comical story ideas come from the local bluesmen who brought him up through the ranks, and the heartfelt emotional tunes come straight from his greatest love, his family. Guitar has been a way of life for Mike since he was a child. Mike's father, (Mike Sr.), introduced him to blues music at a young age. Mike has had a life long love for the blues as well as all American roots music. His band The Nails are like brothers to him: Greg Merino on the drums, Sparky Gehres on the bass, Jim Pedersen on harmonica, and Allan Carroll on the Hammond organ. Enjoy the new record, Mike Hammar and The Nails have dedicated Recipe for he Blues to family, friends, and fans.
