Album Notes
The Mike Keeney Trio brings together all the enjoyable elements of jazz-fusion with jam-bands. Their unique approach to blending funky rhythmic phrasing, (ala Wayne Krantz or John Scofield), with catchy and thematic melodies, (like Bill Frisell), sets a mood that is unrivaled by most instrumental jam bands of today.
These musicians formed an alliance based off of the need to finally bridge the gap between rock and jazz. Being tired of subscribing to the arbitrary complexities of most jazz-fusion groups in the current scene, they set out to build a new middle-ground. One that is understandable and fun, yet also rich with texture.
The Mike Keeney Trio's Debut CD, (self-titled), has just been released to the public in August of '06.

Tight, Clean, Wonderful
These guys can play, and play well. This is the epitome of Modern Clean Jazz. I could repeat all of the wonderful niceties that these musicians offers, but I would just saying something that as already been said.

Buy it, you'll not be dissappointed.

Steven Allen

Excellent jazz-fusion guitar and a rockin' rhythm section.
Clean, sustained guitar melody lines, interesting progressions, great chord leads, what else is there to say? Influences I hear are John Scofield and Bill Frizell. Impressive guitar stylings framed in with one of the better rhythm sections I've heard in some time. Production is solid; this CD sounded great on all 3 of my systems.
I highly recommend this disc!

Great music from talented musicians!
If your a fan of of progressive jazz from bands like Weather Report and Return to Forever, you will love this CD. Excellent original music performed by truely talented musicians.

Just got a hold of this album.. loved it!

Hidden gem
Simply put, if you're into jam bands, you'll love this CD. From start to finish, it's a great listen, there is no weak track that you end up wanting to skip over after a few listens. The musicianship is tight, some great searing guiter work, and really engaging tunes. This was a great find for me, and it's great value.

A great buy!
If the debut album is any sign of what's to come, the future looks bright for these guys! People are quick to jump on the influence bandwagon and label bands; however, this CD screams originality. Complex lines, tight, funky rhythms and powerful hooks make the trio not only listenable, but inspirational. A great buy!

There must be more!
A CD this good merits a follow-up. Without repeating what the other reviewers have said, if you\'ve found your way here, order the CD. You won\'t be disappointed.
