Album Notes
Dr. Mike Lockett is known as "The Normal Storyteller." He lives in Normal, Illinois, but his stories are ANYTHING but normal. Lockett is in an international storyteller and children's author. He has given more than 2000 programs across the United States and as far away as Taiwan. He is known for his strange audio sound effects, animal imitations, dialects and audience participation stories.

Lockett served as a public school teacher and administrator for 33 years, during which time he told stories as a part-time storyteller. Following his retirement from education, Lockett opted to become a full-time professional storyteller. He travels all across the USA giving programs for schools, libraries, festivals, churches and for organizations, including educational conferences. Lockett is often called to give reading assemblies, parent/family talks and young author presentations. He is the author of The Basics of Storytelling (2008), contributing author for The Art of Storytelling by John Walsh (2003) and has written numerous articles in education.

Dr. Lockett has produced FOUR audio CDs. This album, Tales and Fables: East Meets West, is a collaborative project between East-West Publishing Company in Taiwan and Heritage Schoolhouse Press in Illinois. The album has already won the 2008 Storytelling CD of the Year Award by Creative Child Magazine.

Dr. Lockett has produced three other CDs (all available from CD Baby). They are Tales from the Hills, Tales for the Young at Heart and Tales from Around the World. In all, Dr. Lockett has won seven national awards for his audio CDs, including The 2007 Gold Seal of Excellence (2 X's)- Creative Child Magazine, The 2007 Preferred Choice Award - Creative Child, 2008 CD of the Year - Creative Child, Iparenting Media Award (2 X's)from Iparenting Media - owned by the Disney Corporation, and the 2008 NAPPA Honors Award - National Association of Parenting Products Awards. His products are known to be high quality and ultra family friendly.

Dr. Lockett is the author of a bilingual children's series of books - all based on the Mother Goose Poems. The books will be published for the first time in Taiwan and in Korea in the fall of 2009.
