Safety Zone

by Millennium Jazz Orchestra

The Millennium Jazz Orchestra is a pure jazz orchestra and one of the best around. The music of composer / arranger Joan Reinders can be compared with the vibes one finds in a big city: surprise, special, conspicuous, spectacular and exciting.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The Millennium Jazz Orchestra’s music can be compared with the vibes one finds in a big city, a metropolis. It shows great diversity for one to marvel.
The first impression is familiar ground, but all of a sudden everything changes…. You cross a street and are taken by surprise to see something special, something conspicuous, something spectacular. These exciting encounters can be brief, while at other times they are timeless. Often, afterwards you’re in need of some time to restore peace of mind, serenity without the rapid pace.
However, after a while you want to party again. It’s a drug, you want to live life in the fast lane… and enjoy the buzz, the bustle and be stirred once more. The whole kerfuffle provokes and entices you! Yet, inside you will try to remain sane and put things into perspective.

* About the last place one might think to look for an ultra–hip, ultra–swinging and inclusively modern big band is the Netherlands, but there — word of honour — is where one may readily find exactly that, namely the awesomely talented Millennium Jazz Orchestra under Joan Reinders’ unerring baton.
JACK BOWERS

* Getting back to Joan Reinders, I am stunned by the quality of his arrangements throughout. His brilliantly imaginative approach to standards has me in awe…..
The dynamics of the band are thrilling ……
.....playing with this superb Dutch Big Band.'
JOHN KILLOCH

* I wasn’t prepared for this kind of writing and playing. I’m really impressed by the charts. This is great music, performed with spirit and dedication.
BILL HOLMAN

* The performances are first rate, and excellent writing. Bravo to everyone and special congrats to the arranger.
JOHN CLAYTON

* …arranged and conducted with complete originality and style by Joan Reinders with the Millennium Jazz Orchestra, both new to me.........Reinders is neither a (Nelson) Riddler nor avant; indeed, he has that special touch that some of Stan Kenton's arrangers have.
