Album Notes
MINKY STARSHINE & THE NEW CARDINALS hover just above the sweetest sounds of the pop-rock soundscape. This band is much more than four pretty faces who write sugar pop melodies mixed with the 70's-inspired, am radio rock they grew up on. Minky (vocals and guitar), Kelly McCullough (bass and vocals), Michael Moore (guitar and vocals) and John Berard (drums) fit together like pieces of an old puzzle, delivering emotionally charged thrills with every living moment. In 2006, their majestic pop anthems shot heart-shaped arrows straight from their hips into the hearts of their audiences. They are currently supporting their debut release, "Hooray for L.A.", which was produced and engineered by Ken Stringfellow (Posies, R.E.M., Big Star).
Guest musicians include Ken Stringfellow, Mike Levesque (David Bowie, Candy Butchers), Jeff Calder (Aimee Mann, Missing Persons), Chris Cugini (Anastasia Screamed, Blizzard of 78), Paul Myers (Blizzard of 78), Phil Aiken (Buffalo Tom), Sean McLaughlin (Elliot Smith) and more....

This is the definitely the best record I've heard all year.
This is a wonderful CD, full of harmonies and great songwriting. Like the Posies, but more fun. And, there is a lot of emotion behind all of the fun pop songs that play on the surface. (There's even a song about Marilyn Monroe!) Big stadium-style choruses like in Blue Hearts are all over this thing. It is all presented in a very modern kind of way, but is still very much rooted in a traditional popular rock radio format. You can't go wrong with that!
