ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
With their little big band lineup of 4 horns, rhythm section, and vocalist, the Mint Julep Jazz Band recreates the hot jazz sounds of the 1920′s, 1930′s, and early 1940’s through arrangements based on original recordings from the jazz age and swing era.

The Mint Julep Jazz Band is based out of Durham, NC and is led by trombonist Lucian Cobb and vocalist/swing DJ Laura Windley, who have put their collective knowledge and love of swing music together to create an ideal dance band for swing dancers.

More fabulous music from Mint Julep
I have been listening to Mint Julep Jazz Band, who are based in the city I live in, almost since they were formed, and try not to pass up a chance to hear their always swinging music live when they play in the area. Many bands that are so good live find that that energy doesn't transfer when they go into the studio. Mint Julep Jazz Band isn't one of those bands. This CD, much like their debut CD "Durham on a Saturday Night" brings all of the energy of their live shows to the recording, but with studio quality sound (and no background chatter of people enjoying their dinner.) If you love 20's and 30's swingtime jazz, give this CD a try! You won't be sorry! (And then go buy Durham on a Saturday Night too!
