Be refreshed!
Wonderfully refreshing, well crafted songs and a real joy to listen to. Ian’s voice and lyrics whilst vulnerable and intimate are rich in harmony and depth, surprising you with twists and turns just what you'd expect from a great songwriter. Here’s someone who’s been writing songs a while and understands what it means to craft a song, something that seems to be rare at the moment. This album needs to be out there!! The beautiful “Where the Rain Goes” the first song I heard when his MySpace age went up being a great example, very simple but rich in every way and only around one minute long just the sort of thing Van Morrison or Stevie Wonder would do knowing they had nothing to prove and the confidence to do it. Instrumentation is always just what is needed, never too much, but always with points of interest - take the elec guitar solo in “After the Flood” as an example a track not unlike Seal in his tender moments. Treat yourself to it and love it

Mirroed Shower
I discovered Ian Uren the lead vocalist and song writer for Mirrored Shower on a music forum. We became friends after discovering with both are avid Steely Dan fans. I was impressed immediately when I heard Ian's and Sonny Lovell's music. Ian graciously mailed me a copy of Reflections and asked me to review it here. Ian has a knack for writing beautiful melodies while reflecting on his life and those around him. Sonny is a very good guitarist and while listening to the CD I was struck by the fine production, I once told Ian after listening to a new song "Magic Eye" on his next CD to be realeased that Donald Fagen and Walter Becker would be proud of him. It's that good. I say that with sincerity.
Reflections showcases Ian's great singing voice and reflects the feeling I receive from our friendship, which is that Ian is a gentle soul with a positive outlook on life . A good example is "There's Beauty In Life" the lyric as a message for me is be happy, look around, enjoy the beauty of this world. "You and I" starts off with an grooving Bass line and is soon joined by Ian's voice and Sonny's great guitar work. This is among
my favorites on the CD. Other songs I really enjoy Wasteland, I love the production on this one, the lead guitar compliments the song nicely and Ian's harmonizing is right on the mark. "Relections" the title track shows Ian's ear for melodies and displays his soulful piano playing. I wouldn't know if I had not been told ahead of time
but the trumpet you hear in the background is from Sonny's guitar. This song is very relaxing. The CD closes out with an enchanting song "Where The Rain Goes" once again Ian's voice takes you away. Beautiful music. I have been playing music almost 40 years and I can say with honesty Mirroed Shower
is a very talented group of musicians and like Steely Dan their music appeals to musicians. Do yourself a favor and look into the Mirrored Shower. You will find there is beauty in life and also in their music. Thanks Ian for sharting your music with the world.
