Honky Tonk Revival

This group describes their music as "Country music with a hardwood floor sound". Combining some original material along with obscure country tunes that they have unearthed from the 50s and 60s, the band opens up new sounds in a retro honky tonk setting.

Album Notes
Leslie Lindley sings a gutsy, belting lead that has been compared to the likes of Patsy Cline, Leona Williams and Connie Smith. The band's stage show features a real upright piano, pedal steel guitar, fiddle, small drum kit and a twangy Telecaster reminiscent of the Don Rich sound.

While Miss Leslie & Her Juke-Jointers are a relatively new group on the scene, the band has played professionally with nationally touring acts. Randy Lindley, who plays electric guitar, has played and recorded with The Coleman Brothers, The Sullivan Family, Bill Grant and Delia Bell, Rebel Records' David Davis & the Warrior River Boys, and Rebel Records' Karl Shiflett and the Big Country Show.

Miss Leslie & Her Juke-Jointers have been nominated for Houston Press Music Awards in 2004 and 2005. In 2005, they were nominated for Best Original Band in the Houston Chronicle's Ultimate Houston Awards.

David Nott, Bristol, United Kingdom.

Country music at it's best.
A sensational recording. What pleasure to hear real country music played with such feeling. It certainly is very nostalgic.

Lars G Lindberg - Radio Siljan - Mora- Sweden

Miss Leslie:s new album is about the best I´ve heard in 2005. An absolute must for all fans of REAL COUNTRY.

Great CD
Super CD, Nice to see Honky Tonk Music being so well crafted and put out on the media again!

classic honky tonk
If you like hard core honkytonk ala Ernest Tubb, Wanda Jackson, or Rose Maddox, then this CD is for you. One of the best CD's I've bought in 30 years.

Lonestar JR's review says it all
I heard one song from this CD on Accuradio, then ordered the CD. I usually do not order whole CDs. This music is the best honky tonk today. And excellent production values and performances for a live recording. I'd like to see them live.

Brilliant Debut by Texas Country Artist
This is the best debut album by a female artist I've heard so far in the current millenium. In a sane world, these songs would be in heavy rotation on every country radio outlet, but they won't be, because they lack the component country radio craves most: mediocrity. There are no mediocre cuts on this record and I doubt Miss Leslie could dumb down her music enough to reach a country radio level of mediocrity anytime soon. So, we are once again in the debt of independent distributors with the guts to rely on their own taste and to let us buy to ours. Miss Leslie is a straight-ahead country artist, with no need for dumb qualifier descriptors like "countrypolitan" or "contemporary." When she sings hurtin' songs, one does not suspect parody of the genre; she's as serious as a late night heart attack in a backyard swimming pool and superbly conjures the wretched loneliness of the poor bastard in the back of the honky tonk, mirthlessly pursuing liver disease and carpal tunnel via consecutive hours on a video game. Although her vocals carry this album, the instrumental "Bobo's Boogie" makes it clear that she knows how to surround herself with virtuosity, not gimmicks or out-of-place instrumentation. Anybody who doesn't like this record won't like any country record. Indeed, they might as well put the pink plastic flamingos in the front lawn and dust off the Streisand 78s.

Real traditional country music
Loved the C.D. and it was worth every penny to hear someone sing proper country music for a change.

Jamey Bumbalo

This CD is amazing! It is easily one of the best honky tonk CDs available; it is full of 100-proof, good old-fashioned, stone-cold hillbilly songs. When it comes to female country singers, you have Miss Leslie, Amber Digby, Danni Leigh, and Heather Myles, and MIss Leslie is the best. If you love real country music, you must buy this CD.
