Between the Whiskey and the Wine

by Miss Leslie

Miss Leslie and Her Juke-Jointers play honky tonk country music with a 50s and 60s flair. Combining original material along with obscure country tunes that they have unearthed from the 50s and 60s, the band opens up classic sounds in a nouveau honky-tonk

Album Notes
“Between the Whiskey and the Wine” is the band’s third release, following the 2006 live CD, “Honky Tonk Happy Hour - Live at the Continental Club” and their 2005 debut CD, “Honky Tonk Revival”. The band follows their classic roots, but with “Between the Whiskey and the Wine”, the band forms their own sound that bridges the gap between classic and modern.

All 13 songs were composed by “Miss Leslie” Anne Sloan, and the recordings were produced by Tommy Detamore and Ricky Davis. The songs are genuine songs of life, love and heartbreak in the quintessential country framework of dancehalls and bars. But what captures the listener is the emotion and passion of the songs and the arrangements.

“Leslie still echoes Connie Smith throughout the disc, one of her primary influences. But more than ever, the new record captures the dynamic quality of her live performances. Thank producers Ricky David and Tommy Detamore, who keep things unfussy and put the focus on Leslie's big, bold vocals.”—Joey Guerra, Staff Writer, Houston Chronicle

“Already an outstanding real country singer, much admired by FAR DJs and the like, and with a growing regional following, her third album is not only a major leap forward in confidence and style - shaping each individual word to maximum effect, she really sounds like a star - it's entirely original material, and if someone told you some of her songs were actually covers of early 60s hits, you'd have to be supremely confident in your knowledge of the period to argue the toss.”  --John Conquest, Third Coast Music

Between The Whiskey And The Wine
Well There should be more than a 5 star option and I would choose it.
This is the Best CD I've ever heard/played on/produced.....ever....and I've played on over 100 CD's to date.
The songs are real> real life; not that cheezy horseshit you hear from completely everyone else.
Get real and GET MISS LESLIE.

Once again
I just like the music so much I had to come back for more

Tracey K. Houston

As soon as I heard Miss Leslie sing the first few lines of the first song, I said to myself "she has a Connie Smith feel to her voice." This was before I read anything about her or that Connie Smith is a huge influence on her. :-) Definitely a great honky tonk sound that harkens back to the music of yesteryear. I LOVE it!

the real deal
Leslie Ann Sloan is a name to remember. She writes \'em, sings \'em and plays heart wrenching duets with the Steel Guitar. For us in the Northeast it is a breath of classic country air. Texas must be full of honky tonk bands but she is one of the best. They don\'t make \'em like this any more. I\'ll play it till it wears out. B Thrall - BIG TIME Records, High Falls, NY

Fantastic honky tonk singer......the music I love and just found again. Miss Leslie....do you ever tour outside of Texas? I am a Texan-turned-North Carolinian. My family is still in East Texas and I visit them.....are you currently touring in Texas?
