Album Notes
A Fall 2011 Parents’ Choice Approved Award Winner - “Mister Cooper is for the birds”

"Acoustic musician and music educator Ken Cooper has an inviting, down-home way with a song, finding inspiration in the interconnectedness of living things, confidence-building ("Yes I Can") and the joy of reading ("Dr. Seuss Is On the Loose"). Among the highlights: Cooper’s humorous spin on the definition of living spaces ("a peach is a house for a peach pit/a sandwich is a house for ham" in "A House is a House for Me") and a tribute to that ubiquitous pause-filler, "Um.""

Mister Cooper’s newest CD, “Mister Cooper is for the birds (2011),” is filled with a playground of musical styles and lyric themes. “The ‘birds’ concept was developed when half of the songs were about birds, mentioned birds, or had a bird in the title,” Ken explains. The new recording captivates listeners with songs about the life of a seed, Matilda (a gorilla), gratitude, Dr. Seuss, and helping the earth survive through conservation. Instrumentation includes guitars, mandolins, banjos, basses, a tuba, an accordion, a Steinway piano, pedal steel, as well as some fine harmony singing. The sweet sounds of children’s voices can also be heard from time to time. In total, this is a CD that’s guaranteed to make you smile. Previous CD releases include: “Mister Cooper (2006)” and “This World (2009).” More information about Mister Cooper and all three CDs, along with the lyrics to all songs, can be found at MisterCooper.com.

These birds are light, fun and as clever as they come
Mr. Cooper continues to amaze at how he manages to keep up such a high level of musicality and cleverness going at the same time. He makes it sound easy, but repeated listening to these songs will reveal not just an outer "Children's Song" layer, but deeper level for adults as well. "A House is a House for Me," for example, might result in a "duh" reaction to the title, but once in context, it becomes as witty as witty can be.

I'm for Mr. Cooper.

Mister Cooper is for the Birds and Everyone else
Mister Cooper has really evolved with this 3rd CD. In my opinion, the songs are heartfelt and the best he’s written. The recording and mastering on this CD sound very professional. The CD contains some songs that are already well known and many new ones that are very, very good. It was a joy to listen to.

Thank you, Mister Cooper for bringing this music to all of us.
