ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Mitali Baruah Sarma ... singer and songwriter

Mitali grew up in Assam, India and and trained in Hindustani Classical Music at Santiniketan .. a renowned center for the fine arts started by Rabindranath Tagore. She now lives in Canada, dividing her time between the big city of Toronto and the picturesque little town of Dundas, an hour's drive from Niagara Falls.

This album of Assamese songs is inspired by Canada's natural beauty. The subject of her compositions are Canadian themes ... migrating Canada Geese, the blowing mist along the Atlantic coast, the beauty and the fury of winter, the eagerly awaited spring ... Yet her lyrics are in Assamese and the music essentially Indian.

Mitali takes great pleasure in presenting this unique blend of music - Canadian inspiration, Assamese expression.
