Album Notes
I've been a singer and performer my whole life; it's what God put me on this earth to do. I've studied with vocal coach greats Nate Lam and Robert Edwards. I've plied my performing and acting crafts in musical theater and acting workshops for what feels like forever. Since I was eight I've wanted to record - back then you recorded albums. I always thought that I needed to be "discovered" in order to record. But that elusive discovery never happened, until...I finally discovered myself. Wow, what a concept! I thought that I wanted to be the next Barbra Streisand, or Judy Garland. But the world already has them; it doesn't need any more Barbras and Judys. But it does need a Mitzi; and here I am. Imperceptibly to me at first, I began, in my mid-twenties, singing in Churches of Religious Science, and Unity churches, too. I loved the openness of the spirit, and the music, that I explored and found there. I grew up in a Jewish home, and Jewish music, in all of its forms and transformations, filled my home, and it filled the synagogues that I attended with my parents from the time I was only two or three years old. Jewish music is, as they say, in my "kischkes". So, as I've been growing and maturing, and just plain living, I realized that singing songs of the spirit is my passion and calling. It's what brings more joy to my heart than I can describe, and I know without a doubt that my singing songs of the spirit is what brings joy to the people who listen to me sing. When I sing, I hold the intention to do all that I can to let people feel the the light, love, and specialness that is within themselves. Life is so precious, and I do what I can, through the gift of song that I've been given, to waken people to remember who they are – a unique and precious spark of life.
As I continue on my journey of music and healing, I find myself at the Academy for Jewish Religion, CA, where I am currently studying to become a Chaplain. I am also a Cantorial Soloist, and my home is Congregation Makom Ohr Shalom of Encino, CA. All of the songs on this CD come from extremely gifted, blessed and talented songwriters there; Makom, you might say, provides an incubator for their creative musical spirit. When I decided that it was time that I discover myself, I immediately realized that I had a built-in treasure trove of songs, all waiting to be recorded and heard. The songs you hear on this CD have just been waiting to be realized; here they are! I hope that you fall in love with this music as much as I do, as I listen to it again and again, and I hope that as you listen, you remember who YOU are! God bless, and, as we say in Hebrew, L'Shalom: To Life!

This Baby is a whopper!
Many of us around LA have heard Mitzi sing before. That's why we are so delighted about her new CD. The whopper part is because this CD is Mitzi at her best, to say nothing of the quality of the instrumental, vocal and production values that come with it. "Leaving Egypt" just brought me to tears.
