Album Notes
Mary Jo Carnicle invites the human soul to journey through unmarked territory through song. Her current album underneath the gravel gives an array of reflection through ballads like Deep Inside the Shadows and South of the Border along with fun, upbeat tracks like Off to the Races and The Way Love Goes. Mary Jo's music has a flare of jazz and rock with a touch of classical, a unique combination creating a sound and style that brings her into her own right as an artist.

She has an art of bringing music and lyrics together in a way that enhances the listener to view a kaleidoscope of feelings and emotions. Her gift of composing reached new heights after receiving her Practioner's in NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and since then she has felt compelled to write songs that offer discovery, introspection and reflection of one's own interior world. "I want to create music that will invite people to reflect their relationships with others, as well as self. I want them to be able to reach within and come away with new resources and insights."

Mary Jo's voice is angelic and has a depth and warmth that many find endearing. It is not surprising that her voice and music penetrate the human spirit and cross culture and nationality. She captures the hearts of listeners and continues to be a trusted sound in music.

CD is haunting and melodic.
This CD has a very good mix of self reflecting lyrics and bluesy and even at time haunting melodies. There seems to be a commmon theme throughout, yet each piece is unique. I would love to hear some of these pieces with more than just the piano backing it up. It could be extremely powerful with a few strings and horns. Or maybe a soft guitar. The piano playing itself was very well done as were the vocals. I give this CD a 4 out of 5 with the expectation that the next one will be a 5.

Wonderful CD. I urge "folks" to buy it.
