ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Melissa Majeau & The Muse

Melissa Majeau has been songwriting a month after picking up the guitar in 1996. Her style draws on influences ranging from Neil Young, Emmy Lou Harris to U2. "Glow" the first album by Melissa Majeau & the Muse, was released in the summer of 2003. After much support from CKUA and CJSR and a busy festival season at the North Country Fair, Water Valley Celtic Music Festival, The Works, and a Waynefest Fundraiser, it was obviously time for a new album.

The Muse has Melissa Majeau as the singer/songwriter, guitarist and harmonica player (Sgt. Sing Along), Travis Short on the bass, Dennis Boisvert on the drums (both play in Aud Squad, Moksha), and John Woroschuk on lead guitar, resonator, mandolin, bg vocals (Robin Hunter & the Six Foot Bullies, Sgt. Sing Along). Their new album entitled "The Time Has Come" consists of 11 new original songs. The C.D. was released at the Sidetrack Café on December the 16th, 2004. To promote the show Melissa played on the "Big Breakfast", A Channel's morning show, a live show on CKUA (94.9 FM) on December the 10th, and CJSR (88.5 FM).

Melissa Majeau & the Muse are thrilled about their new release and if you haven't heard them then jump on their musical train. Their creations will transport you to exciting new landscapes with songs like "Overdose" and "Sugar Daddy" where they light a flame under you and dancing is your only option, whereas other songs such as "The Call" and "Lavender Skies" leave you feeling as if you are sitting right beside that lit flame with a cup of tea. "Timeless".

When Melissa isn't with her Muse, she is likely collaborating with other Edmontonian gems. She has recently played live in Banff with Ann Vriend at the Rose and Crown Pub, recorded vocal tracks for Shuyler Jansen's (Old Reliable) new release "Hobotron" (which Melissa sings on 4 tracks), as well as one song featured on John Woroschuk's new release "Woodshed". Currently "The Time Has Come" is #24 on the CKUA charts and #11 on the CJSR report, and climbing.

"Each show brings more and more crowd to the venue; each performance solidifies Melissa as one of Western Canada's top artists, set to take on the world" says Brent Oliver of the Edmonton Sidetrack Café, which inspires Melissa to commence a solo tour with Eastern Canada dates then off to Europe and the U.K for the months of April and May. Upon returning and promoting the new album Melissa Majeau & the Muse will be busy with the festival season with a wide variety already confirmed (Edmonton Chante, The Water Valley Celtic Music Festival, Waynefest, The Works) and many more in negotiation.
