ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
GILMORE GIRLS TV
Miller appeared in the season finale episode of Gilmore Girls, playing a stripped down version of "Mary" on mandolin behind a sexy conversation between Grant Lee Phillips and the mayor, (while accepting cookies from strangers) in Stars Hollow.

NEW ALTERNATE MIX
Miller recorded an alternate version of "Mary" (as heard in the Gilmore Girls television show), produced by The Wallflowers' Rami Jaffee, and Joe Ongie.

Miller's "Lover I Know" is featured on Trampoline Records'
current release "Greatest Hits Vol 2" and is sandwiched between Pete Yorn, The Wallflowers, Liz Phair, Minnie Driver, Dan Wilson (Semisonic), and others.
Trampoline is the super-boss label started by Pete Yorn, Rami Jaffee of the Wallflowers, and Marc Dauer of Jukebox Junkies.

Miller has been quietly carving out a following around his home base of Los Angeles while touring and loving people throughout the U.S. and UK - - - sharing the stage at larger venues with the likes of Pete Yorn, Duncan Sheik, Shawn Mullins, Minnie Driver, and Daniel Lanois.

The title track "When We Come To" features Lyle Workman (Sting, BECK, Frank Black, Jellyfish). Additional strongman juice from Aaron Smith (drummer on many of the Temptations records - including 'Papa Was A Rolling Stone'), Mike Roe (the 77s, the Lost Dogs) Joe Craven (Jerry Garcia, David Grisman, Stephane Grapelli). Miller co-produced the album with wonderlad, Joe Ongie.

"If it weren't such a cliché one would reach for such puerile comparisons as 'Miller is a male Joni Mitchell'; it is a cliché, and it is puerile, it's also entirely apt."
[LOGO Magazine UK]

"Those who have rightly mourned Jeff Buckley's passing, should check out Michael Miller and judge him on his merits. Several times throughout "When We Come To" I was reminded of the way that Buckley could within the frame of sparely plucked guitar, create reclusive little hymns.
Miller songs pull you in to an almost meditative depth and recall much of Buckley's disquieting surrender to beauty."
[Terry Sawyer - Music-critic.com]

"Miller's voice has an otherworldly sweetness like that of Radiohead's Thom Yorke."
[Miles Of Music]

"Such experimentation imbeds Miller's compositions with a hushed beauty...Miller's ghostly voice guides each song to the edge of emotional eruption."
[OC WEEKLY]

Even the artwork, impeccably created by Miller himself, beckons the listener back for more. If you are looking for excellent original songwriting, beautiful, perfectly performed arrangements and exceptional, top-of-the-line production values, then congratulations. You have arrived. For broken hearts that still want to hope.
Described vividly by Michael as, "The Beatles making sweet love to Radiohead and Beck, conceiving the white album's illegitimate, in-bred son while Elliott Smith and Nick Drake film it in slow motion," this poignantly sweet and delicately dreary eccentric bliss Pop, like the whiff of a lemon, may cause reflexive mouth-watering. Like the drooping branches of a weeping willow in full color of springtime or watching the rain streak across your windows, against the backdrop of condensation, the guitar-drenched, vocal "mood lighting" and not-quite-resigned grooves make this album absolutely exquisite. For broken hearts that still want to hope.

This is just how good the CD is: My boyfriend and I had a song that was considered "ours" and even after breaking up I still love listening to it. Makes me smile to listen to.

Marvelous & mellow
Michael sounds to me like a modern day George Harrison or the long-lost twin brother of Elliott Smith. The songs on this disc will make you melt. I'm not sure how I stumbled onto this disc. I was surfing the CD BABY website and I checked this out and knew that I needed to own a copy of this disc. I live in Chicago and I noticed that Michael has played the west & east coast lately...but maybe not the Midwest...I hope that Michael comes to Chicago soon. I would love to see this guy play live.
