Album Notes
With their latest recording, Home Music, the Modock Rounders have taken their distinctive style of old-time music to another level. Jesse Pearson (fiddle & guitar), Cody Jordan (guitar & fiddle), and Kim Johnson (banjo) combine remarkable playing and vocals with a genuine mountain music sound to create one of the most exceptional old-time albums in many years. The variety and authenticity of the songs and tunes are deeply rooted in the mountains of West Virginia.

West Virginia traditional music fires us up! It is real and genuine music from deep in the hills. It’s local music, and we have a blood connection to it. Many of the older generation of West Virginia fiddlers are world-renowned for their music. Fiddlers such as Wilson Douglas, Franklin George, Lee Triplett, Ernie Carpenter, and Melvin Wine are no longer with us, but their style of fiddling is alive and well in the hands of the Modock Rounders.

“Those old fiddlers are like mythological figures to me and Jesse, says Cody. "They died long before we got into old time music. We never got a chance to play with them, but Kim sure did, and she’s our connection to that heritage. We met Kim at an Appalachian studies conference, and invited her to some gigs, and before long it was just understood she was a member of the band. It came together pretty naturally."

Be sure to come & see the Modock Rounders whenever they're playing in your area. You'll be glad you did!
