Album Notes
These are songs grounded in latin rhythms and the improvisational tradition of jazz, with unexpected harmonies and structure. Different instruments may improvise over different harmonies and you won't always get 32 bars in the tunes' head... Yet, you will tap your foot to the 2-3 clave or to a samba, and will nod your head to a straight ahead ballad. This cd tells a story and invites you to a musical journey. Melodies are intriguing and will stick with you. The band has been recording together for the past 3 years and includes some of the best musicians in the San Francisco Bay Area: Moises P. Monk on saxophones, Greg Sankovich on keyboards, Jerry Burdick on bass, and Carlos Almeida Jr. on drums. In addition Omar Ledezma Jr. plays percussion on 5 tracks, Chris Rossback plays guitar on the title track, and Rocio Guitard contributes with vocals. The album was recorded at the legendary Fantasy Studios in Berkeley, and it was mixed and mastered by Russell Bond at Howling Point Studios in Santa Cruz. Enjoy...
