ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This project celebrates the lives and heritage of my Irish kin near and far. I honor those closest to me:
my mother, Betty, my brothers, Kevin and Danny,
and my sisters Bridget, Sheila and Patsy. I also
honor the life of my father, now deceased, my “da,”
James Patrick Shannon.

In 1910, my grandmother Anna O’Donnell Shannon “crossed the pond” from Ireland to America. She never saw her family again. “Her Dungloe”, on this CD is her story. Eighty-six years later I returned to Ireland for her. That is when I began gathering the songs on this collection. A long journey it has been. But, along the way I’ve discovered more about what it means to be an Irish-American.

For Anna and all those who left their loved ones behind: “come ye back...welcome home”.

A poignant and powerful CD, you must listen to "Come Ye Back"
This poignant offering from Molly Shannon touched me. I felt like I was leaving a place I loved and yet reaching back for it at the same time. Some of the cuts are very authentic -- Two Sisters, for example. Others are musical paintings, like "Foggy Dew" or "The Wind that Shakes Barley."

All I can say is "MORE."

Breathtaking! This is beautiful music.
Beautiful Irish music! I can't wait to receive my CD so my daughter and I can dance and sing along together. Great mix of meaningful stories and impressive music.

Pure Angelic Poetry
Once in a great while if you listen long enough and search hard enough you'll discover a singer who is different than the rest; who sings for the pure love of it and who sings truth; a singer who sings with emotion and in tune with her medium. When the stars align that artist can take you to a higher place and move you. I've been moved. This girl can do that and the CD is worth the fifteen hundred pennies--a small price to pay for pure poetry.

WOW!!!
I would have to say that if I had to pick a favorite out of all the songs on this CD (though the decision would be difficult because they are all very good) would be “Her Dungloe.” When I heard this collection the only phrase that crossed my mind was, WOW!!!! Few composers accomplish that!! Well done!!!

Come Ye Back
Molly has an absolutely beautiful voice, and sings the songs on this cd with her absolute soul. Her passion and pride of her Irish ancestry fills each and every song! I am honored to say I am her friend and would recommend this cd to all romantics and Irish music lovers! Listen to a few songs, and I know you will agree!

I get goose bumps listening to the foggy dew and laugh thinking of the two sisters. Music that makes me feel is one of life's greatest joys. This is grand. Brilliant as the Irish would say!

Riveting, compelling, excellence: This CD reminds me of being in the pub and drinking a pint. The soothing sounds really tickled my blarney stones.

Splendid!!!!!!!!
Molly Shannon unites with other very talented individuals to visit a legacy of traditional and some not so traditional Irish ditties. Her smooth vocal styling is that of an angel. I would happily recommend this CD to anyone.
