More about Monica:
Monica grew up in the LA area, playing in bands and composing for dancers, which eventually led her to spend most of her adult life in Amsterdam. In 2003, through her yoga practice at Svaha Yoga Shala in A’dam, she was introduced to kirtan and bhajans in Sanskrit and Hindi. She immediately fell into Ecstatic Love with these forms of chant and has been chanting nonstop ever since. As a Bhakti yogini, chanting and sharing chant are an integral part of her yoga practice and teaching. Since moving to Tempe, AZ in 2009, she has participated in and led kirtan and live music yoga events throughout the valley. She has performed at Bhakti Fest, “the Woodstock of Yoga” and Shakti Fest with Sirgun Kaur and Masood Ali Khan and locally, with Girish. She appears on Masood’s CD “Hang with Angels”. She regularly plays with Sirgun and the Band of Now. Chanting and yoga have miraculously transformed her life and she is very grateful to be teaching and sharing this miracle with others!

More about Sirgun:
Sirgun Kaur is a Sacred Songstress and Spiritual Coach. Through the exploration of her music, and after her discovery of Kundalini Yoga, chanting, and mantra, she was led to an understanding of the transformative and healing potential of music. Sirgun believes that bodies and minds are malleable and miraculous. Her music is designed to put listeners in a state of natural healing. By listening and chanting along, the nervous system is soothed, the mind becomes less chaotic, and thus, one’s surrounding environment becomes less overwhelming. Through a gradual process of observing and listening to other chant artists, mixed with deep and personal songwriting experiences, Sirgun was led to this spiritual path through music.
Sirgun has released five albums of sacred chants: -8, Reclaim Your Happiness, Dayaal, The Cosmic Gift, The Music Within and has performed in Europe and across the United States, leading conscious wellness festivals such as Bhakti Fest. She currently resides in a yoga community in Phoenix, Arizona with her husband and two children.

Why chant? (from Sirgun's site) -
The human voice is our most portable, most readily available musical instrument.
Everything is vibration. So, when we sing in a devotional way (chant), we tune our body instrument to the frequency of our Highest Potential. We find the acceptance, the beauty, the joy, and the validation within our own Self.
I know how these sacred mantras can lift us beyond our limited reality, into a blissful and ecstatic space, and I love to share that experience with others.
