Doug Gordon of NPR’s acclaimed “To The Best Of Our Knowledge” writes: Just when you thought it was safe to go into the record store or visit your favorite online music emporium, Bob Something has done it again. Monkey Bowl's new CD, "Ultimate," is vivid proof that not every band is subject to the dreaded sophomore jinx. From the haunting Kafkaesque dance-rock of "Trust Me, I Work For The Government" to the jaw-dropping, "Am I really hearing this?" audio audacity of "Al Gore (The Musical), Something has crafted another masterpiece of infectious, clever, and funny music. Don't miss the meta-postmodernism of "End Title Song" and the bonus track and the Lindsay Lohan-less version of the title track -- truly, the "ultimate" version of "Ultimate."

Yes, Monkey Bowl is back with the follow-up album to the brilliant debut “Plastic 350”. Featuring “Clear Channel”, “Trust Me, I Work For The Government”, and the soon-to-be-heard-in-a-major-motion-picture “End Title Song” (hint: it’ll play when the credits roll!). The New Yorker says “Monkey Bowl is a cross between the Fugs and Ali G!" Entertainment Weekly says “cast your chad for Al Gore's vocal cameo on "Al Gore", an homage by Tennessee band Monkey Bowl".

“Al Gore, The Musical”, “Baby Changes Everything”, and the Lindsay Lohan hit “Ultimate” also feature prominently on the new release. Says Monkey Bowl’s Bob Something, “Ultimate” was actually recorded for the first album, and it was meant to be the dumbest love song ever written. I mean the chorus says ‘I’ve been waiting all my life for movie people heard it, they thought it was stupid brilliant! So it became the big finale song for Lindsay Lohan in her hit movie Freaky Friday, and we’ve had to wait until now to release the original version.”

“Ultimate” by Monkey Bowl is this years model, built not for speed but for a comfortable ride the long way home. Jump on in, roll the top down, fire up the vegetable oil and get that engine crankin"!

Maybe even better!
I loved Plastic 350, but this one might be even better! Truly original songwriting. Beautiful guitars and weird sounds, awesome harmonies. The production sparkles. Highly rcommended!

heard it on NPR
Gotta give it 5 stars folks. If you like tuneful, smart, funny, heart-wrenching, political (liberal!), harmonies, originality, and a nice break from the crap they force on us on the "radio", just listen to these songs. You'll buy it, guaranteed! Then you can tell your friends there's still good music out there!
