Monnette Sudler is a musical force of nature, a Philadelphia musician, which makes her special already, as she comes from the community that launched Dizzy Gillespie, John Coltrane, Benny Golson and so many others. A musician’s musician: Sudler is a dynamic guitarist, a versatile bassist, a strategic composer and dedicated bandleader who has a peculiar pedigree.

She is that rare musical bird these days, who is seasoned on both sides of the aisle and is not afraid to go anywhere musically. She is a consummate outside player and improviser having worked for years with avant-garde masters, Sunny Murray, Byard Lancaster and Khan Jamal. But she’s also a superb, inside player with bonafide straight-ahead and funk chops having worked with Philly Joe Jones, Kenny Barron and Grover Washington.

Rounding off the previously stated craft-woman ship with a passion for collaboration and supporting other artists, Sudler heads up and produces an annual Guitar Summit showcasing string artist from around the globe.

If Monnette Sudler is not on your radar, you are in store for some magic.
