Album Notes
Standing At The Crossroads

Montana at the crossroads is a true history of blues. Starting with Crossroads - which is Delta Blues - Montana takes you through a stage by stage development of blues; finally ending up with Techno Blues in the style of Stevie Ray and Hendrix. Montana's style leaves no room for argument... he knows his blues, and you'll know it too when you listen to this smoking release. Montana's Guitar will speak to you as he slides and thumps out the old Delta Blues in the style of Robert Johnson, and as he plays the soulful sound of his blues harp in the style of Willie Brown. You'll hear the vocal style of Robert Johnson with his harsh yells at the devil, and the soft sound of Lonnie Johnson as he sings "Traveling Blues". You'll be energized as the fireworks start when Texas Blues are played in the style of Stevie Ray. You're feet will start to move as the CD advances. Get ready, and put on your headphones. It's time to boogie.

Montana cut his teeth on Delta Blues in the 70's, and life has never been the same since. Whether playing in the French Quarter of New Orleans, or the Inner Harbor of Baltimore and the Underground of Atlanta, Montana has captured the feel, the sound, and the mood of those old masters. You'll be transported back in time and feel the power of the songs as they resonate through the air. Then you'll enter a time machine and move through the history of the blues passing on the way the sounds of old blues kings like BB King, Muddy Waters, Jimmy Hendrix, and Stevie Ray Vaughn, and finally end up in the techno beat so popular in Europe today, but with a blues twist.

Many radio stations have asked Montana why he waited so long to record. Always seeking out the live venue, Montana spent years in the smokey blues bars of New Orleans, The Atlanta Underground, Baltimore's Inner Harbor, and the waterfronts of the east coast. When a great saxaphone player asked Montana what his legacy would be - while he lay dying in bed - Montana decided to record. This is the first in a series of CD's to be known as the Delta D Legacy series.

Washington Blues Review

We rate Montana AAA
Montana is one of those bluesmen who come along once in a lifetime. His music comes right from his soul.

Totalls Awesome. I could listen to this for hours.
This is very entertaining and fun music. It's lively, and really makes me smile. Montana can really make that guitar talk, and he is without a doubt the best harmonica player I have ever heard. He has such a unique style. It's sort of jazzy...not just the regular blues licks you hear so ofter. And, he seems to bring those notes from nowhere. His slide playing is very smooth, and he makes it all work so well. I'd really love to see him live, but I guess the CD will have to satisfy me until I do. Clapton has nothing on this guy.

Will listen to this over and over
This is a real work of art!

A Beautiful CD!!
This cd is absolutely wonderful!! Montana is not only a very gifted and consummate musician, but he has chosen an extremely fine selection of songs. The slower songs are all very soulful in the tradition of the greatest of blues. Montana makes the harmonica sing and cry out, and he does it beautifully! Each song is powerful and deeply expressive and very moving. I am very partial to the last three songs on this cd. They are very upbeat and full of exuberance and energy. And it's a great pleasure to listen to them! My very favorite song is Techno Blues. It absolutely blew me away the very first time that I heard it. I think it is brilliantly done!! Thank you so much, Montana! I love the cd!! And I look forward to lots more! Please keep up the very beautiful work!
Gratefully, Carolyn

i love the blues. Almost any blues. From Johnson, to BB and to Eric Clapton. I have over 1500 blues songs on my iPod with room for plenty more. I enjoy this album and it is also now on my iPod which I listen to every day on the long commute here in Washington, DC.

Cool and funky Delta Tip
I love this CD. The Delta Blues Songs are as cool and funky as you can get. Makes me feel like I'm down in Mississippi somewhere! Techno Blues is wild. I've never heard anyone play the harmonica like Montana. He's like...Hendrix on Harp! Real cool. And the ending really took me by surprise. Wow! Very cool. The slide guitar playing has a sound all its own. I was sooooo impressed. I'm looking forward to hearing Montana's next release. Montana...What took you so long.
