ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Out of the south, the black church brought to America its originsl musiic, birthing soul, R&B, and the blued. "Soul Side" by Tennessean Monte Stephens, reveals the strong influemce of this music on this white boy raised in the Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee.

Stephens was doing just fine until he heard James Brown's "I Feel Good" at the age of 16, then his love for music took a new turn. Throughout the 45 years in the world of music, Stephens has recorded many albums and always included a gospel soul song he wrote. "Soul Side" is Stephens' first of a completed album of all 14 tracks that is dedicated to his love for what he calls gospel blues.
