Album Notes
From the age of nine it was clear that Frank would do something creative with either music or graphics. He started to play piano and violin during his youth combining this with his daily studies at the Sint Lucas Art School. After studying the violin at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp for three years (featuring in the backing band of one Helmut L for a while), he realized he wanted to explore other musical styles as well. Hence he dropped out of school and started creating fusions between electronic and acoustic music. After releasing a hiphop record on Breake It Or Leave It (a sub label of Wally's Groove World) he started working on the latters' e-commerce platform and website (the guy does do a lot of things). Meanwhile his musical ideas became sound, with 'Moodlex Sessions' as a first result.

Today, based in Antwerp, Frank combines his graphical skills together with a musical career in a full time activity. Not bound to one direction he tries to explore many different musical styles, following his heart and trying to stretch as many boundaries as possible. As such Frank creates an eclectic fusion of moody vibes, deep rythms and funky beats. Currently, he is working on new Moodlex-material - but also has other projects running, including an experimental blend of electronics, vocals and his first love, classical music.

A couple of months ago, 'Sessions', the debut album of Moodlex was released on Wally's Groove World, the label of renowned Belgian producer Koenie. The maxi features remixes of Mayaku and Italian producer Dario Dax (Family House).

But even before its release, Antwerp-based Moodlex (the cheerful-looking youngster underneath) caused quite a stir with his funky and well-balanced beats, a fine blend of deep house, jazz, lounge, bossa, dub, drum 'n bass, breakbeats and even hiphop. Buscemi, Smos & Baby B and Studio Brussel-chieftain Jan Van Biesen (Studio Brussel), all undisputed music gurus in Belgium, are already praising him and the latter has included 'Amazing' (the 2nd single) on the next 'Switch' compilation. Raving reviews are still coming in from the States, France, Germany, Holland, Poland and Argentina (and who knows how the album found its way to there?). Mr Scruff, meanwhile, has included Moodlex in his playlist.

Moodlex also made the soundtrack to a short film and did remixes for Lunascape and Fonda.

He doesn't do any dj-sets, preferring to give live-performances on his lap top. And he does qo quite nicely indeed; last November he did a support for Jazzanova (Cactus Club, Bruges) and got a mighty enthousiastic response. Other concerts @ Gentse Feesten, Off Corso (NL), Club Geluk, Café Capital, Café d'Anvers, Bailando, Meridiaan, Okapi, Bar Tabac (dé Bar Tabac), Cactus Club (met Jazzanova), Le 4 Sans (Bordeaux), WGW night @ Fatal (Leuven), Dam Central, Metrophone, Studio Anathor (Bxl), Café Zondag (Maastricht), ... have already gained him an excellent live-reputation in a matter of months. More gigs are of course coming up.
